Hilton Pattaya hotels has unveiled a new rooftop restaurant and bar, as well as an interestingly designed lobby which offers breathtaking views of Pattaya city from a stylish decor. The interior design of these two venues offers, besides the splendid panoramas, private dinning rooms, great cocktails and a comfortable environment.
The Department of ARCHITECTURE has renovated several suites in the Hilton Pattaya Hotel, including the First Floor Lobby, the Main Lobby, a number of suites and a beautiful lobby and bar. The lobby is situated at the 17th floor of the building, and offers a spectacular view of the beach and the sea.
More interesting it the hotel lobby which was granted a generous space. The architectural intervention on the ceiling, which is curved in many longitudinal waves, is intended to direct the visitor toward the glass surface overlooking the seafront beyond. The most interesting feature of the bar is the textile fabric which creates a fluid ceiling which sways due to the winds produced by air conditioners.
The solution did not come easy for the architects, because the space was difficult to shape. The ceiling was quite low if you compare it with the width of the room, and the space is not easily accessible. Another thing to consider was the fact that people would take the elevator for more than 40 m, from a space which did not have any kind of view, so the entrance had to be spectacular, and the relation to the panorama obvious.
The proposal of the ceiling plane solved the directional issue of the place, and also created an interesting game of shapes and shadows. The shape is inspired from nature, and it represents the ripple of the ocean surface seen through a diver’s eyes. It seems only natural to let yourself taken by the current, towards the sea view. The layers of fabric mimic the ocean movement perfectly and give meaning and life to the indoor context.
Due to the numerous glass surfaces, the whole lounge is bathed in natural light during daytime, and during the night time, the white of the fabric is lit and creates a surreal effect. The dark furniture creates a great contrast between the creamy ceiling, the glossy floor and the beige carpet. The bright colors make the space feel bigger and more welcoming. The ceiling is, once again, amplified by the marble floor which mirrors it and creates the illusion of a water surface.
