Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects (SAOTA) have once again proven that they are true masters in matters of contemporary house designs and floor plans, with the La Grand Vue 5A project. The residential building comprising two suites was designed in collaboration with interior design studio OKHA and is located in a posh neighborhood of Cape Town, South Africa. The “dreamy sky-high home” was designed to mirror and echo the ocean that expands limitlessly below it. This intent is apparent especially as one explores the rooftop terrace with a wonderful lap pool and lounge area that offers an unparallelled view of the surroundings. Also on the terrace, a Sky Bar with a cocktail bar and entertainment area, for all-night parties in utter style.

Modern house designs and floor plans are featured throughout this residential structure, designed by Carla and Stefan Antoni, the latter of whom is the design studio’s master architect. As their family grew, they decided they needed to demolish their bachelor pad and replace it with a larger home. So Stefan built a two-story penthouse with two en-suite bedrooms, a day area and a kitchen on the first floor, plus a studio, a third bedroom and a garage on the lower level. Additionally, there is another apartment underneath the bottom level. Stefan made heavy use of textural levels and layering, to achieve a sculptural visual effect. The couple “wanted the feel of the apartment to be a contrast between laid-back comfort and slick sophistication”. To this end, marble slabs deck the floors, combined with lime-washed woods with a “beachy” feel, grey and aquamarine color accent. According to Adam Court of OKHA Interiors, the interior designer, the furniture, especially created for the Antoni home features a “relaxed but sophisticated look […] a balance between the functional and the eye-catching, from white-leather sofas to ethnic pieces found on exotic travels.”
