Small Swedish Apartment 01

Found on Swedish property website bosthlm.se, this cute little Stockholm apartment, a wonderful example of small house design, is quite paradoxical. After having been cleverly and creatively refurbished, it doesn’t seem small at all anymore! The trick is that all the walls and floorings were painted immaculate white, thus visually altering the perception of the spaces. To boot, the living room and kitchen are connected in one free-flowing open space, with a wall-wide contemporary abstract painting in psychedelic colors. The dynamic visuals of the painting are balanced out by the furniture in dark tones of mahogany and Wengue. While the furniture is modern, sleek and compact, the decor items are few, far between and nature-inspired (some twigs, a faux sheep skein), the floorings have preserved a distressed look.

Although one can tell that this small house design once was a dull old apartment, refurbishment and remodels have turned it into a contemporary home that is entirely up to modern standards. It has that cozy, cushy feeling of home (did you notice the red, heart-shaped throw pillow on the couch?) and the small house design is economic, ideal for young people and perfect for an active, urban lifestyle.
