Israeli design duo Studio Aiko, comprising Yair Alony and Meny Hilsenrad have come up with a 3D house design that speaks of the future and the past at the same time. They have created The Desert Villa, a residential structure buried into dunes of sand, which does manage, however, to preserve a contemporary feel both inside and out. The exterior’s neutral color and simple lines make it discrete, inconspicuous and charming. There is a patio with ultra-modern, sinuous lounge chairs and a lovely reflective pool, just perfect to cooling down in the dry heat of the desert. Once inside this magical, yet unrealized realm, one is taken aback by the amount of details, the bold colors which alternate with wooden hues, and the contemporary, sleek feel that the designers chose for the furniture.

3D house designs are all about envisioning better ways of life for the future, and as the designers themselves will confess, their aim was to combine “the magical scenery of the desert with a modern architecture of a villa. [They] took the idea a step forward in a mysterious & humoristic way.” Check out their website for a cool and funny video tour of the home. Its floor-to-ceiling patio doors and circular picture window on the lofted ceiling of the day area make the home engage in constant communication with its surroundings, taking integration into the landscape one step further than previously imagined.”
