In order to stand out from a sea of gorgeous new home designs, this lovely apartment by Tham and Videgard Architects plays with color. Yet it does not do so in a predictable manner, by making heavy use of interesting décor items. No; instead, it plays with a lovely color scheme throughout the wood flooring, by departing from the interior use of color and pattern previously developed by Swedish artists and architects such as Carl Larsson and Josef Frank. The apartment featured here also boasts its engagement and constant communication with the outdoors, right next to Humlegarden park in Stockhom, Sweeden. Much like colors change outside throughout the year, inside, they switch gradually from winter grey and black to bright green, orange, red and yellow.

Even sparsely furnished, this jewel of new home designs, the apartment stands out for its playful grace and quirky elegance. Most of the furniture pieces featured are simple and clean in design, somewhat reminiscent of the warmth and homely comfort of the ‘60s. The entire apartment basks in the copious amounts of natural lighting coming in through the French windows. For a host of other stand-out Scandinavian new home designs, do check out the Tham and Videgard architecture practice website where we came across this cute, classical apartment, plus tons of other distinct and relevant samples of contemporary architecture.

  1. [...] Like all spectacular examples of contemporary design, the Villas Suluwilo on Vamazi Island, Mozambique, seem to have been planted against their wild backdrop an eternity ago. The four villas’ modest indigenousness invites the visitor inside, only to reveal spectacular interiors. They are decked out in exotic wood, diaphanous drapings on the four-poster beds and an organic sense that will make those staying here feel like they’re sleeping in the most comfortable shell at the bottom of their own private ocean.
